I have teamed up with my wonderful colleague Lotte from Nurture & Nest to offer two comprehensive birth doula packages like no other in Shropshire. You receive the support of both Lotte and me during pregnancy, being able to leverage our combined knowledge and expertise. You have time to get to know and feel comfortable with us, and we know you and your preferences too. We both have experience of working as NHS professionals and independently as birth workers. We have a thorough understanding and knowledge of the physiology of childbirth but also of the ‘system’. We are confident liaising and building rapport with midwives and doctors involved in your care. Unlike other doulas in the area Lotte and I will cover the on-call period together. This ensures that one of us is there to support you throughout labour and birth. The way we operate is unique to the area. We don’t have a backup doula because we are each other’s backup. Therefore you will 100% know who is supporting you through birth.

Birth doulas provide continuous support for women and families in childbirth. We provide information, practical and emotional support and advocacy for women with other professionals involved in your journey. Research has shown that having continuous support from one person during labour may have benefits including an increased chance of spontaneous vaginal birth, shorter duration of labour, decreased likelihood of caesarean birth or instrumental birth and most importantly a more positive feeling towards your birthing experience.
